Goodrington Sands Beach

Goodrington Sands

Welcome to Goodrington Sands in the holiday resort of Paignton in Torbay, affectionately known as "The English Riviera" in the beautiful shire of South Devon.

At the heart of the English Riviera, Goodrington Sands is well known as a safe family holiday destination, with a gently sloping sandy beach, which is well managed every morning by tractor, tides permitting, to remove seaweed and stones washed up by the sea.

Goodrington Sands has all the normal facilities like beach huts, deck chairs, sunloungers and pedalo hire and also has beach manager supervision and a first aid centre.

Goodrington Sands is also famous for the steam railway which runs adjacent to the sea, and can be boarded here at Goodrington Station for a journey along the picturesque South Devonshire coast line to Kingswear, where you can cross the River Dart by ferry over to Dartmouth.

Goodrington Sands Photos of the beach and the park with it´s boating lake, nature reserve, go-karts and crazy golf has a history dating back to the sixteenth century. There is also the old navel hospital from the Napoleonic war which is now a family friendly eatery pub which is part of the Brewer´s Fayre chain with plenty of outside seating taking in the breathtaking views of the bay.

Splashdown Waterpark at Quaywest is situated on the beach at Goodrington Sands and includes 8 slides & flumes, swimming pool and childrens toddler play areas, with the water heated to 27 celsius you can relax on the gentle Surf Lagoon or experience the exhilarating Screamer or the Wild Kamikaze.

Dog Friendy

Goodrington Sands Beach is one of the few, if only, main beaches in Torbay on the English Riviera where you have a choice of enjoying a beach where there are no dogs allowed, or a part of the beach where dogs are allowed.

Goodrington Sands Beach (North) is dog friendly where dogs are allowed on the beach off lead all year round, they are also allowed off lead on the promenade and also in Goodrington Park which is adjacent to the beach.

Goodrington Sands Beach (South) has a dog ban from 1st May to 30th September, but they are allowed on the promenade on lead.

Just a few hundred metres from Goodrington Sands along the coast path is Saltern and Oyster Cove, both dog friendly, which are accessed across a small stone bridge over the steam railway line to a grassed headland which has panoramic views across the whole of Torbay.
